Time for a new interview. Today, we have a chat with Sem Slings. A down-to-earth man from Brabant, 18 years old with 2 years experience of being an influencer on Instagram. He tells us more about his inspiration, motivation and his goals in life.
Hi Sem! Why did you start your Instagram account?”
Two years ago I was inspired by different Instagram accounts. At first I never really paid attention, but I ended up creating a profile of my own. I wanted to share pictures that show authenticity and professionalism.
What do you think it means to be an influencer?
Inspire and advise. That’s how I see it. I think it’s all about getting messages across to your followers which help and inspire them. At least that’s what I’m trying to do.
Sound good! Any less fun aspects of being an influencer for you?
I get a kick and a big motivation boost when my content is well received by my audience. The compliments are an incentive to deliver great content over and over again. However, I do get negative comments as well. The people around me don’t always understand why I keep on spending my time on this. For me it is a nice hobby and that is the most important thing. The negativity doesn’t stop me.
You did a collab with Feyenoord via Join, how did you experience this?
It was my first collaboration on the platform, so at first I had some questions. Those questions were answered quickly, by the platform as well as by the support team. I love how both Join and Feyenoord communicated very clearly.
What skills do you want to develop in the future?
I’ve discovered a real passion for photography, and I would like to develop that passion. I also want to make sure that my follower base keeps on growing. I’m sure I want to keep doing this for a while. It is difficult to create unique content, because there are many other influencers. Still, this doesn’t stop me, I just keep on trying my best.
